The Golden Hills Community Services District signed a contract with a new trash hauler on Wednesday, April 2, which will give residents a new choice for curbside trash pick-up.
J. Torres Company will begin service in Golden Hills on July 1, according to a release from the CSD.
“This is a culmination of a lot of effort,” Director Laura Lynn Wyatt said in a release. “We've been able to bring choice to Golden Hills for residential and commercial trash service. That choice brings competition to the market that ultimately benefits the customer,” she said.
The Golden Hills CSD awarded a bid to J. Torres late last year after deciding to assume authority over solid waste pick up.
J. Torres will also be charged a franchise fee, meaning the district will receive a portion of the revenue generated from trash pick up in the community.
“We already had a number of residents call asking for information on J. Torres and how to sign up,” Golden Hills CSD General Manager Bill Fisher said in a release. “There a lot of people excited about this,” he said.
Residents can continue to use their current trash provider or switch over to the new company, the release states. Those interested in signing up with J. Torres can call 823-4898, visit jtccorp.com, or fill out a service request card at the district office.
