Three people were arrested in connection with a burglary in the Hart Flat area on Dec. 22 that included a search by air and K9 units from the Kern County Sheriff's office.
At 2:18 p.m. deputies from the Tehachapi substation responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance at a residence located on Bear Mountain Rd., and after quickly securing a large open area, were able to locate two suspects whose vehicle was stuck on a mountainside and a third that remained hidden in deep underbrush.
The two suspects arrested were 24-year old Anthony Damian and 22-year old Misty Sterk. Damian was booked on charges of burglary, resisting arrest, GTA and theft of a firearm. His bail was set at $75,000. Sterk, who is currently serving out a 3-year probation term for a 2011 petty theft conviction, was booked on a charge of conspiracy and held on $10,000 bail.
Directed by helicopter support, deputies deployed a K9 unit to apprehend the third suspect — 24-year old parolee Vince Brown — who refused all commands to come out from hiding near a large tree.
After being transported to Tehachapi Hospital for the treatment of several dog bites, Brown was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield on suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest, grand theft auto and theft of a firearm.
