The latest news - The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Wind Advisory for areas including Tehachapi, Rosamond, and Mojave. The advisory predicts winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts NEAR 50 mph. It will remain in effect until 7 p.m. tonight. Read more HERE.

Tehachapi Police Department:

Jan. 29, 2014

1:50 p.m. Shots fired/heard. Occurred at Indian Creek Villas on Tucker Road. Four to five shots heard, unknown cal, reporting person calling from Dollar General Market. Disposition: Unfounded.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

Jan. 29, 2014

8:46 a.m. Suspicious circumstances. Occurred on Ryder Cup Lane. There is a house on Ryder Cup that has brick on it, the door is open. Reporting person unsure if house is occupied. Disposition: Checks Ok.

10:03 a.m. Burglary report. Occurred on Rifle Court. Someone attempted to break in his home through the window and basement door, home for sale. Disposition: Report taken.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation: Between Jan. 29 and the morning of Jan. 30, the Kern County Sheriff's Department responded to 12 incidents, including a burglary investigation at Cos Mini Storage and a peace disturbance in Golden Hills.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.

WEATHER FORECAST

Today: A 20 percent chance of rain after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 48 by 5pm. Breezy, with a west wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Tonight: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Breezy, with a west northwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Blustery, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

UPCOMING EVENTS

• The Tehachapi Strings Orchestra is performing at the St. Jude's Anglican Church on Jan. 31.

• The deadline to enter "Taste the Art" at The Art Studio is Feb. 6. the event is scheduled for Feb. 14 from 5 until 6:30 p.m.
