The California Highway Patrol has reopened Highway 58 through the Tehachapi Pass and Interstate 5 over the Grapevine after closing them Saturday morning due to snow and ice.
Both opened about 1:30 p.m. after having been closed for several hours.

The storm dropped more than four inchs of snow in the Tehachapi Valley and more in adjacent higher elevation areas and caused postponement of the Christmas Parade sponsored by the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce. The parade has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
Although the highways have been reopened, they are icy and unnecessary travel is not recommended.
There is a possibility of some additional snowfall in the Tehachapi area later Saturday.
Golden Hills Elementary is keeping its students in a “semi-lockdown” after shots were fired in the vicinity near Santa Maria Drive and Madre Street around 10:45 a.m this morning, according to Kern County Sheriff Sgt.
Impact on construction project being assessed Although it was recently reported that everything is moving along smoothly with the new Tehachapi Hospital being constructed in Capital Hills, the project hasn't been completely free of problems, according to Project Manager Stacy Pray.
