Tehachapi's public schools will open two hours later than usual this morning, Wednesday, Dec. 11, due to icy roads.

Saturday's storm has been followed by below-freezing weather, resulting in wet and snow-covered roads becoming very slippery.
Tompkins School students were released from school last Thursday and school was cancelled on Friday due to no heat after problems with a gas line. That problem has reportedly been corrected.
The National Weather Service predicts a high of 48 in Tehachapi on Wednesday, gradually increasing to a high of 58 on Sunday. Lows in the forecast range from 29 degrees tonight to 32 Thursday night, then dropping to 31 again on Friday and Saturday night.
At higher elevations temperatures will be lower across the board.
