"There is no box... real estate is global" was the theme for the installation of officers of the Tehachapi Area Association of Realtors held on Friday night, Jan. 17, at the Stallion Springs Community Center.
New president Sally Lawrence selected the theme for her year in office.
Realtors present were challenged to become involved in politics by installing officer, Don Faught, 2013 president of the California Association of Realtors.
Faught said not Republicans, or Democrats, but real estate is the party supported by CAR and pointed to success in keeping additional government recording fees off documents and establishing that debt forgiven in short sales will not be taxable income in California as among the organization's successes last year, noting that Realtors work on behalf of consumers to help them achieve the dream of home ownership.
Diana Williams was honored as Realtor of the Year for 2013. She is also president-elect and will serve as a member of the association's board. Other board members are Adonae Mierop, Linda Clough, Bernie Connolly, Rubien Brandon, Stacey Christy, Jim Hutson and Tesa Noonan.
Linda Clough presented the President's Choice Award to Adonae Mierop. Alert Disaster Restoration was honored as the Affiliate of the Year for 2013.
