50 marijuana plants seized in Rosamond

Deputies with the Kern County Sheriff's Office in Rosamond seized 50 fully budded marijuana plants after serving a search warrant at a duplex in the 5500 block of Rhyolite Avenue Friday afternoon.

According to a release issued by the KCSO, around 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, deputies found both bedrooms in the residence had been converted into “elaborate” marijuana growing rooms. Ten of the 50 plants were freshly cut and were being processed, the release states.

Deputies from the Major Violators Unit responded and took custody of the plants.

One of the two subjects located in the home, Thomas Moran, 23, was issued a citation for violating Kern County Ordinance Code 5.85 for marijuana cultivation. According to KCSO spokesperson Michael Bonsness, Moran had a growing permit under California Proposition 215, which allows cultivation of up to 12 plants.
