Chevy commercial to be shot in town

Yet another commercial is set to be filmed in the Tehachapi area.

This time it's a commercial for the Chevrolet to be shot for three days starting on Sunday, Oct. 7. Filming will take place in the downtown area Sunday afternoon from 3 to 8 p.m.

"At this point, we understand, it's a Chevrolet Malibu commercial," said Tehachapi City Manager Greg Garrett.

"There will be a large production crew with a lot of cars," he said. "We will accommodate a lot of their production vehicles in and around the airport to keep them away from the downtown area."

Last March a Dodge commercial was shot downtown -- although it was never aired. A PG&E commercial was filmed in Bear Valley Springs and Tehachapi in June and last month Warner Bros. was shooting in the area for a feature film, "The Hangover 3."

All of the filming has been beneficial for many local businesses -- and exciting for area residents.

"It will be a nice influx to our economy," Garrett said. He said he knew that several local restaurants were getting related catering jobs, in addition to hotel room rentals and purchases that will be made in the area during the filming.

"It's a nice thing and we enjoy being Hollywood's back lot," he added. 2013 Chevrolet Malibu
