Man arrested in connection to GH Elementary lockdown

Kern County Sheriffs deputies have arrested a man allegedly involved in a shooting that caused Golden Hills Elementary to go into lockdown around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4.

Anthony Pina, 26, was arrested around 2:45 p.m. in the 400 block of East “F” Street on Wednesday, March 12, on charges of shooting at an inhabited dwelling and gross negligent discharge of a firearm. His bail is set at $500,000.

At the time of the incident, witnesses told KCSO that Pina shot at another hispanic male near Santa Maria Drive and Madre Street in Golden Hills, before fleeing in a vehicle towards Valley Boulevard. The victim fled the area on foot.

According to Sgt. Doug Wilson, KCSO is pursuing other charges and the incident remains under investigation. He said it doesn't appear to be gang related.

Pina's next hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday, March 14, at the Kern County Superior Court in Mojave.
