You know you live in the country when… big news on a Monday afternoon is that the police are herding sheep.
Well, at least they tried.
Photographer Nick Smirnoff reports that two loose sheep evaded Tehachapi Police officers who attempted to round up the fuzzy critters at about 5 p.m. on Monday, June 9.
Officers tried to force the sheep into a confined area, but met with failure, Smirnoff said.
Police then notified railroad officials that the sheep were running along the tracks.
When last observed they were on the tracks near Dennison Road.
Railroad personnel placed trains on restricted speed status and county animal control staff were called.
