With a number of small fires swamping the Tuolumne and Calaveras counties, the Kern County Fire Department has sent a five-engine strike team to help local firefighters.
All of the engines are Type 3 engines.
According to a news release from the Kern County Fire Department, one of the engines, Engine 318, is from Stallion Springs.
Brandon Hill, public information officer for the fire department, noted that a back-up engine has been sent to fill in for the Stallion Springs station while the strike team is up in Tuolumne-Calaveras area.
The other engines are Engines 326 (Lost Hills), 335 (Woody), 345 (Edison) and 363 (Highland).
Hill said the strike team will assist in fielding calls and fighting the various fires. Each engine has four firefighters and is lead by a strike team leader and a strike team leader trainee.
