The California Highway Patrol has issued a news release advising all motorists who are traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday to buckle up.

The release states that the CHP will be in engaging in maximum enforcement starting Nov. 27 through Dec. 1.

According to the CHP, 44 people were killed in auto accidents in California last year during the holiday, and 1,300 arrests were made for DUIs.

Motorists are encouraged to report impaired drivers.
