Golden Hills CSD holds monthly board meeting

The Golden Hills Community Services District held its regular board meeting on Feb. 16. All board members were present. The meeting opened with a discussion of the Kern County Grand Jury report that was just released concerning the operation and management of the district. The last time the grand jury reviewed district operations was in 2003.

General Manager Bill Fisher reported that there were no recommendations and no response required to the report. CLICK HERE TO READ THE REPORT

Director Laura Lynne Wyatt reported that the District Lands and Parks Committee had met and set a date for the next bulk waste collection date, e-waste, shredder and other waste Spring Collection Day on May 19. The committee is also continuing to work with Tehachapi Valley Parks and Recreation on that district's master plan.

Director Kathy Cassil reported for the Strategic Planning Committee. She said the committee will be providing information to the Finance Committee to help plan for the future.

Under new business, Fisher noted that the district office will be closed on Feb. 29 so employees can participate in safety training.

Assistant General Manager Mike Sides announced that the Tehachapi Rose and Garden Society will hold its annual plant sale on May 12.

The district's next regular board meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. March 15 at the Golden Hills CSD building.

Wind Energy

  1. Planning down on the ranch

The news that the Pahnamid Wind Energy project has been withdrawn from the County Planning Office is good news to most of us up here on the mountain. After spending several million dollars between the City of Tehachapi’s General Plan, the County’s Specific Plan, and the Kern Council of Government’s “Blueprint,” it would be foolish to start making zoning changes at the first opportunity.
