Tehachapi Police Department:

Oct. 9, 2013

12:45 p.m. Grand theft report at business on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Disposition: Report taken.

1:22 p.m. Vandalism against person or property of another at business on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Incident related to case of suspect arrested yesterday. Disposition: No further action required.

4:33 p.m. Burglary report on East "I" Street. Reporting $300 missing from the drawer. Disposition: Report taken.

6:06 p.m. Suspicious circumstances at business on West Tehachapi Boulevard. Woman seems confused and is acting bizarre, appears somewhat blind and has called for a tow. Age is about 50. Disposition: Arrest made. NOTE: Woman arrested on DUI warrant, bail set at $30,000.

Bear Valley Springs Police Department:

Oct. 8, 2013

12:58 p.m. Burglary report on Rollingoak Drive. Sometime during the night, someone took license plate from a trailer, but left it behind. Disposition: Checks OK.

Oct. 9, 2013

4:39 p.m. Snow advisory on Paramount Drive. Snow is falling at the 5,900 feet level but is not sticking to the road. Disposition: Information only.

Kern County Sheriff Tehachapi Substation:

Officers responded to 16 incidents between Oct. 9 and the morning of Oct. 10, including an illegal shooting on White Pine Drive in Golden Hills, and a peace disturbance in Golden Hills.

Stallion Springs Police Department: Nothing reported.

California Highway Patrol: Nothing reported.

WEATHER FORECAST

The National Weather Service in Hanford provides the following forecast for the Tehachapi area:

This afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. West northwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 41. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west northwest in the evening.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 64. North northwest wind around 10 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west northwest in the evening.

Sunny and clear with highs in the mid 60s throught the weekend and lows in the 40s.

• The regular meeting of the Bear Valley Community Services District board of directors will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 6 p.m., at the CSD building, 28999 S. Lower Valley Road.

• The Tehachapi Planning Commission's next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 14, 6 p.m. at the Beekay Theatre, 110 S. Green St.

• On Wednesday, Oct. 16, the Tehachapi Valley Heathcare District board of directors will meet at the Golden Hills Community Services District, 21415 Reeves St., at 6 p.m.

MOUNTAIN SPORTS THIS WEEK

Football – Varsity at East High on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. JV/frosh-soph vs. East at home this Thursday, Oct. 10. JV starts at 7:30 p.m. and freshmen starts at 5 p.m.

Volleyball – Varsity defeated East, 25-12, 25-12, 25-10, JV defeated East, 28-26, 25-19, and frosh-soph defeated East, 25-17, 20-25, 15-12 on Tuesday. Varsity/JV/frosh-soph vs. Highland at home on Thursday, Oct.10. Matches start at 6:30 p.m. (varsity), 5 p.m. (jayvee) and 4 p.m. (frosh-soph).

Girls Tennis – Girls Varsity defeated North, 9-0 on Oct. 8. Varsity (away) and JV (home) on Thursday, Oct. 10, vs. Foothill. Matches start at 3:30 p.m. Varsity at Lynch Cup on Friday, Oct.11, in Bakersfield.
