The names of two people killed in a single vehicle roll-over on Highway 14 north of Red Rock Canyon State Park on Thursday afternoon have been released by the Kern County Coroner's Office.
The driver of the vehicle lost control and overturned according to the California Highway Patrol.
Jad Kobiessi, 30, of Newhall was the driver; also killed was Hoda Breidy-Thacker, 51, of Torrance. Three others in the vehicle sustained injuries.
According to CHP Officer Steve Nielsen, the accident took place just after 4 p.m. when a Ford F250 carrying five passengers was headed northbound on Highway 14 and ran off the east shoulder of the road and overturned.
The crash caused multiple ejections from the vehicle, according to Nielsen. Kobiessi and Breidy-Thacker were pronounced dead at the scene, two others were airlifted and one was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Those who were airlifted were listed in critical condition at the time of the accident, while the person transported by ground ambulance was "alert" at the time, Nielsen said.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
