With Daylight Savings Time quickly approaching this Sunday, March 9, the Kern County Fire Department reminds all residents to change the batteries in all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms around your home.
In addition to changing the batteries, be sure to test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms for proper operation. Using a vacuum hose to clean out the dust will also help keep your detectors in top working condition.
Can't remember which way to move the clock? Remember, "Spring Forward, Fall Back" which means that Daylight saving time 2014 will begin at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 9, when most states in the U.Sl will spring forward an hour. Time will fall back to standard time again on Sunday, Nove. 2, when DST ends.
Arizona, except for Navajo Indian Reservation) does not observe DST. Nor do Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marianas Islands.
