A fully-loaded cement truck has overturned on Deertrail Drive west of El Camino in Bear Valley Springs and was expected to restrict traffic on the roadway throughout the morning of Saturday, July 27.

According to freelance photographer Nick Smirnoff, Bear Valley Springs Police Officer Neil Schmidt and Kern County firefighters from the BVS station responded to the incident.

The truck belonging to Holiday Rock left the roadway for an unknown reason and slid down the hill nearly 20 feet. The driver was not injured, Smirnoff said.

The accident occurred on a steep downhill curve in the 2800 block of Deertrail Road.

At 8:40 a.m. a heavy crane had been dispatched from Lancaster to help retrieve the heavily damaged vehicle, he said.
