One injured in Tehachapi plane crash

A four-seat Piper Cherokee airplane carrying a pilot and two passengers crashed shortly after taking off from Tehachapi Mountain Valley Airport on Saturday.

It it appears there were no major injuries or deaths, although officials said one might have had a few fractures.

Kern County Fire Dept. spokesman Leland Davis said the plane went down at around 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 24, in a field in the 17000 block of Dugan Drive, crashing behind a house approximately one mile from the airport.

Names of the crash victims were not available, but authorities said the plane was registered to a 37-year-old man in Prescott, AZ.

The incident was turned over to federal investigators.
