Vogel pre-preliminary hearing continued to March 5

Steven Vogel appeared before Judge John Oglesby in Kern County Superior Court in Mojave yesterday afternoon for a pre-preliminary trial related to five counts of charges against him.

Vogel's court appointed Public Defender Andrew Blanco advised the judge that Vogel was in the process of obtaining a private attorney and requested the case be continued.

The judge ask Vogel if he waived his right to a hearing within 10 days of his arrest. Vogel answered, “Yes.”

The judge then set a new pre-preliminary hearing date of March 5 at 11 a.m., cautioning Vogel that if his private attorney fails to show up for the hearing Blanco will continue to represent him.

Vogel, of Tehachapi, was arrested on Feb. 12 and arraigned on five counts of sexual acts with minors on Feb. 14. He is in custody at Lerdo Max-Med Facility in Bakersfield with bail set at $200,000.
