Reigning Miss Tehachapi Chrissie Archuleta cheered up long-term patients and brought tears to the eyes of her teacher Cynthia Hynes as she made her rounds at Tehachapi Hospital recently.
Dressed in her regalia, Archuleta stopped to chat an answer questions from each patient during her Nov. 13 visit, which was facilitated by hospital CEO Alan Burgess.
Archuleta, who is a senior at Tehachapi High School, plans to pursue a career in the medical field following graduation and is currently enrolled in a class entitled Medical Front Office.
The students are required to work in facilities for class credit, shadowing and participating in direct patient care at the hospital, Terrio Fitness, and in Dr. Susan Hall's office following extensive classroom and hospital training.
The training also covers important medical instruction on CPR, infectious disease prevention and control, and patient confidentiality, among many other medical academics.
