The future of a proposed wedding facility in Cummings Valley hangs in the balance, awaiting approval from the Kern County Planning Commission today.
Paul and Laurie Weinroth are hoping that the commission will grant them a permit to operate their business, Rose Garden Estate Weddings, on agricultural land just off Bear Valley and Roost roads.
The home, which is situated on a 20-acre lot, has had a troubled history, which involved two cases of animal cruelty back in 2008 and 2009.
Now the Wienroths will look to breath new life into the property, using it to host full service weddings and events.
Scott Denney, Planning and Operations Division chief for the Kern County Planning Dept., said there is very little opposition from nearby property owners.
County planners are recommending approval of the request.
