A Castaic woman who has been missing since Aug. 5 has been found dead in the desert in the southeastern part of California City.
According to a news release from the Kern County Sheriff's Office, the body of a woman was found on Sept. 1 and identified as Martha Myers, 59. An autopsy was performed Sept. 3 but the cause of death is pending.
The investigation by the California City Police Dept. is continuing.
According to the Antelope Valley Times, family members reported that Myers was last seen leaving her home in Castaic on Aug. 5.
She was driving a grey 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer with damage to the front fender. She was believed to be traveling up Highway 14 and was reported to have called her roommate from Palmdale because her car had broken down.
