Council appoints new Airport Commissioner
Philip Shinar of California City was appointed to the Tehachapi Airport Commission to replace Rex Moen who resigned because he has moved from the area.
Shinar is a private pilot and aircraft owner who lives in California City but frequents the Tehachapi Airport. He has been a resident of California City for three years and has a Piper PA-28 Cherokee hangared at that airport. He said he considers Tehachapi to be a "pilot friendly" community.
He is a graduate of California State University at Long Beach in Psychology and from Pepperdine University with a Masters in Business Administration.
Shinar was chosen from a field of five candidates. Three local residents, as well as another from Bakersfield and Shinar, applied for the position. His term will expire on June 30, 2016.
