Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. today as Tehachapi voters join others across the nation to vote for president, along with state and regional representatives, a number of contentious propositions and local offices.

Local races on the ballot include:
Bear Valley Springs Community Services District, five challengers and incumbent Rick Zanutto are in the running. Challengers are Scott Miller, John Mc Keehan, Walter Ritchie, Chuck Reed and Charlene LaClaire make up the field.
City of Tehachapi: Incumbent Mayor Ed Grimes and councilwoman Kim Nixon are in the running with challengers Henry Schaeffer and Stanley Beckham. City Treasurer candidate Julie Drimakis and City Clerk candidate Laura Jenkins are running unopposed.
Golden Hills Community Service District has three openings, with incumbents Kathy Cassil, Eldwin Kennedy and Allen Baumgarten facing challengers Daulton Oliver, Phil Cornyn, John Foster and Larry Barrett.
Stallion Springs Community Services District, incumbents Irene Gunshinan and Dave Burt are battling for three seats with Martel Martinez and Clydell Lamkin.
Tehachapi-Cummings County Water District, current director Jonathan Hall is being challenged by retired businessman Stanley Beckham, while incumbent David Hadley goes head-to-head with challenger David Shaw.
Tehachapi Unified School District Board of Trustees, incumbent Leonard Evansic faces challenger Steven Vogel.
Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District Board of Directors incumbents Dr. Sam Conklin and William Steele are facing challengers Henry Schaeffer and William Steele.
