Burst pipe caused damage at Senior Center
The cold snap over last weekend resulted in a burst water pipe over the bathrooms at the Tehachapi Senior Center, flooding much of the downstairs. The upstairs meeting room was unaffected.
In spite of staff precautions coupled with improvements provided by the city, unfortunately the water damage will close the center until further notice.
Center President Lori Powell apologized to residents who frequent the center for the many activities that take place and vowed to work with the City and insurance carriers to get services back to normal.
This also affects the Senior Nutrition Program that provides hot lunches and Program Director Dianne King immediately announced a plan to transfer the operation to the Veterans Memorial Building next to the Police Department by the end of the week. A contact phone number will be posted at the center for questions.
The city had just completed renovations including new flooring, paint and other improvements.
The Tehachapi Senior Center is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization located at 500 E. "F" St.
