Kern County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Tehachapi man and woman for multiple charges after discovering a large marijuana grow at residence in Alpine Forest.
Andy St. Claire, 29, and 31-year-old Savanah St. Claire, were taken into custody on Tuesday and booked into the Kern County Jail.
Andy St. Claire is being charged with child endangerment, possession of an assault weapon and manufacturing of a controlled substance by chemical extraction. His bail was set at $140,000.
He was also issued a citation for possession of marijuana, in violation of county ordinance charter 5.85 — regarding medical marijuana.
Savanah St. Claire was booked for child endangerment. Her bail was set at $80,000.
According to a sheriff's press release, deputies from the Tehachapi Substation, narcotics officers from the Kern Narcotics Enforcement Team, an officer from the Code Compliance Office and social workers from Child Protective Services conducted a child, check the welfare investigation at a residence in the 18000 block of Alps Drive on Sept 24, around noon.
During the investigation, authorities said they discovered approximately 100 live marijuana plants located on the property, as well as an assault rifle and equipment used to extract THC from cannabis.
It was determined that four juvenile children residing at the residence were at risk and all four were taken into protective custody.
