The Visual and performing Arts Department at Tehachapi High School hosted its annual Evening of the Arts; and Evening in the Lime Light on March 20, in the gymnasium.
Every year, the high school showcases the abundant and diverse creative talents of its art, drama and music students. Proceeds from the evening go back to the students and assist with buying needed supplies and materials for students in the VAPA programs.
This year, the THS drama class added an improvisition team to its program. The leader of the Improv team was Shannon Werle. Also performing was Samantha Lysee who danced to the tune "Funky Town," performed by the Jazz Band led by Band Director Paul Grana.
Performing to "Banda Sonora" was THS's award-winning flag team. The flag team recently competed against 10 other guards, and took 2nd place at the Frontier Winter Color Guard Competition.
Visual and Performing Art teachers Lara Crowe, drama, Carol Horst, art and digital photography, and Jackie Estes, art, ceramics and psychology, were also introduced to the audience. Art work created by students featured at the event will be featured in next week's edition of Tehachapi News.
