Prizes, refreshments at water event

"Where have all the flowers gone?" is the theme for a water conservation event set for Wednesday, April 9.

Sponsored by the Tehachapi Area Association of Realtors and local districts, the event will offer water conservation tricks and tips as well as prizes and refreshments.

Arrive on time and have your name entered into a drawing for great prizes including two $50 gift cards towards the purchase of low flow shower heads or low flush toilets.

Families are welcome and the Kern County Fire Department will be on hand with a truck available for free digital photos. A special section of time has been allotted for teaching children water conservation.

Tips for re-thinking your landscape design will be offered by Anna Smith, local landscape architect.

Also present will be representatives from Stallion Springs, Golden Hills and Bear Valley Springs community service districts, the Tehachapi Cummings County Water District and the City of Tehachapi.

The event will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the TAAR office, 803 Tucker Road (next to Jack in the Box).
