Tehachapi residents injured in Highway 58 crash

Two Tehachapi residents were injured in a an automobile accident on Feb. 14.

The California Highway Patrol reported that P. Andrade, 27, of Tehachapi was driving a 1990 Nissan westbound on Highway 58 at 12:42 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and it traveled off the freeway on the north side.

The vehicle collided with the hillside and several large rocks and came to rest in a 15-foot deep drainage ditch.

Andrade and his passenger, identified as R. Antista, 26, of Tehachapi, were treated by emergency personnel for their injuries. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.

According to the CHP, Andrade received major injuries and was transported by Mercy Air medical helicopter to Antelope Valley Hospital.

Antista reportedly received minor injuries and was transported by Hall Ambulance to Kern Medical Center.
