The latest news - Steven Vogel, who faces five counts of sexual acts with minors, appeared before Judge John Oglesby in Kern County Superior Court in Mojave yesterday afternoon for a pre-preliminary trial related to five counts of charges against him. AND the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved a bill to rename NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base for late astronaut Neil A. Armstrong.

08:24 DISTURBING THE PEACE Occurred on South Pauley St. Physical disturbance female getting assaulted by two Hispanic males in front of white house. Arrest made for under the influence of controlled substance.

08:47 LOST PROPERTY Officer initiated activity at Tehachapi Police Department, East “F” St.

08:54 SCHOOL RESOURCE DUTY Officer initiated activity at Tehachapi High School, South Dennison Rd. Battery occurred. Arrest made.

09:57 FIRE Occurred at Highway 58 and Keene exit. Brush fire on mountain Woodford Tehachapi area. Turn over to Kern County Fire Dept.

10:21 WELFARE CHECK REQUEST Occurred at West Tehachapi Blvd. and Mulberry St. Check on welfare of white female adult, gray beanie, 149-145 pounds, and blonde hair.  Security advising they had observed female talking to fire hydrant. Last seen in front of Burger King. Unable to locate.

10:45 CONTROL BURN Occurred at Highway 58 and Keene exit. Caller reporting a fire south side of mountain. Turn over to Kern County Fire Dept.

10:59 SUBPOENA SERVICE ATTEMPT Occurred at Tehachapi Police Department on East “F” St.

11:00 SUBPOENA SERVICE ATTEMPT Occurred at Tehachapi Police Department on East “F” St.

13:35 RECKLESS DRIVING Occurred at East Valley Blvd and South Green St. Green GMC or Chevy with white camper shell. Reporting party is sure father in law is driving under the influence. Unable to locate alcohol when he left the house. Direction of travel east bound on Valley. Unable to locate.

13:49 SCHOOL RESOURCE DUTY Officer initiated activity at Tehachapi High School, South Dennison Rd.

15:14 THREAT TO COMMIT AN OFFENSE Occurred on Meadowbrook Ct. States she and her employer were threatened and harassed by caregivers who were laid off today.  Subjects are threatening to come to the house and indicating bodily harm.

15:39 SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES Occurred at East “D” St. and South Mojave St. Probationer, 22, walking east between Central Park and Monroe High School. White male shaved head, blue jeans, stripped blue shirt, dark color jacket. Approx. 5'10” to 5'11'', thin build. Currently under the influence of possible methamphetamine or marijuana.

16:19 PEDESTRIAN CHECK Officer initiated activity at Circle K on East Tehachapi Blvd.

16:49 POLICE-911 Occurred at Mulberry Villa Apartments on West “E” St. Reporting party states okay. Accidental misdial by child.

18:53 PARKED VEHICLE Occurred on Michael Ave. White van has been parked in front of the residence.

20:03 BICYCLIST Officer initiated activity at Valley Blvd. and Mulberry St.

20:19 PEDESTRIAN CHECK Officer initiated activity at West “I” St. and North Curry St. Arrest made.

21:26 WELFARE CHECK REQUEST Occurred at Ranchotel Turner Lodgeways on South Curry St. Possible mentally challenged subject with firearms in his possession. Subject does not have a history of being violent. Subject has made comments in the past about hurting himself. Subject is 45-year-old and is HBD. Reporting party attempted to call him and there is no answer. A friend made contact with him earlier this date at which time it was advised to take his guns but then decided on keeping them.

23:10 PARKED VEHICLE Officer initiated activity at Del Taco on Tucker Rd.

03:31 SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES Occurred at Four Seasons Trailer Park on North Curry St. Reporting party stating subject is mental case at this location and "going crazy".

06:50 TRAFFIC CONTROL NEEDED Officer initiated activity at Tompkins Elementary, South Curry St.

07:06 CITIZEN REQUESTED ASSISTANCE Occurred on Ash Way. Requesting counsel in regards to threats over a scam received over telephone.

23:20 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, occurred in the 21000 block of Santa Barbara Drive.

THS School Site Council Meeting originally scheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 21 has been postponed and will take place tomorrow, Feb. 28 in the THS Administration Building Conference Room at 1 p.m.

MOUNTAIN SPORTS THIS WEEK

Girls Basketball - Tehachapi High's girls basketball team ended its season on Tuesay with a 53-33 loss in the CIF Division III semi-finals at Hanford West. Hanford will face Selma Friday night for the CIF Central Section Division III Championship game to be held at Fresno's Selland Arena. Bracket available on cifcs.org.

Boys Baseball – Varsity/Jayvee at Terrio Therapy Spring Classic in Bakersfield today at Bakersfield Christian, Games starts at 3:30 p.m.

Girls Softball Varsity at North Lead-Off Classic vs. Taft today. Game will be played on the North-Bakersfield Jayvee Field at 3:30 p.m.
