NWS predicts three to seven inches of snow possible for Kern County mountains

The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Kern County mountains, which predicts three to seven inches of snow for areas above 1,500 feet, and some snow accumulation near 500 feet. The advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, through 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.

The NWS also predicts 50 mph gusts of wind through mountain passes and higher elevations.

Snow is supposed to begin late Friday night and thin out by Saturday night.

Travel delays and road closures are possible.
