The Kern County Sheriff's Department reports that one Tehachapi resident was arrested in August for selling alcohol to a minor, and a Tehachapi business is facing possible administrative sanctions from the State of California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
Sheriff's detectives and ABC agents conducted numerous alcohol-related investigations throughout Kern County in August.
Decoy operations targeting ABC-licensed establishments and their employees who sell alcohol to minors in the Tehachapi, Rosedale and Buttonwillow areas resulted in the arrest of Gabriela Rivera, 20, of Tehachapi, Tina Sides, 27, of Wasco, and Veronica Mendoza-Morales, 32, of Bakersfield, all for sales of alcohol to a minor.
In addition to the arrests of their employees, the Loves Travel Stop, 2000 E. Tehachapi Blvd., RBI Food Mart & Deli, 22520 Sidding Road, Bakersfield and J R Food Mart, 9741 S. Enos Lane, Bakersfield, may face ABC administrative sanctions due to their employees selling alcohol to minor decoys.
Although officials conducted more investigations in other areas of the county, none resulted in Tehachapi-related arrests.
These enforcement operations are made possible through grant funding provided to the Kern County Sheriff's Office by the State of California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
The State of California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is a division of the State of California-Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.
