Tehachapi Police Chief Jeff Kermode provided this photo of the "tar" heroin that was seized early Monday morning.

On Monday, Oct. 7, at about 1:15 a.m., a Tehachapi police officer was patrolling the neighborhood in the area of Walnut and Cypress streets. She noticed a black 2000 Honda Civic parked along the north curb of Walnut. Seeing that the car was occupied by two people, the officer stopped to investigate why they were parked in the neighborhood at that hour.

Upon making contact, the officer discovered that at least one the occupants had been smoking heroin. A usable amount of “tar” heroin was recovered from the car and both occupants, Marc McClay and Dylan Knowles, were arrested.

Since Knowles was already on probation, and his brother, Jordan Knowles, had been recently arrested for transportation for sales and possession of controlled substances, the officers went to the Knowles residence in the 100 block of Fir Street to conduct a probation search. Subsequent to that search, Jordan Knowles was found to be in possession of 18 small packages of “tar” heroin and was arrested.
