Cub Scouts, American Legion Auxiliary assist veterans

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, local Cub Scouts from Pack 3 once again extended a welcome to veterans who attend local classes in wind turbine maintenance and mechanics.

The young scouts entertained the visiting veterans with a skit, a snappy Cub Scout salute and a taco dinner.

Assisting the Cubs as a helper-mentor was local Troop 3 Boy Scout Kaden Gonzales, who is presently working on his Community Service badge.

Pack 3 Cub Scouts attending were Ben Small, William Small, Landon Gonzales, Isaac Johnston and Matthew Burke.

The veterans from all parts of the United States are in Tehachapi to attend the six week wind energy training sessions at Airstreams Renewables. They are assisted during their stay by the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 221, which supplements their food needs from their Auxiliary Veterans' Food Pantry.

Den leaders for the Tigers are Lorrie and Greg O'Brian; Elizabeth and Scott Small are leaders for the Bears. Helpers for the for the occasion were: Natalie, Adriana and Madeline Johnston, Alma, Ivana and Francisco Fabian and Heather Johnston.
