A Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, for areas in the Kern County Mountains, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.
The NWS predicts northwest to west winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Affected areas include Rosamond, Cal City, Edwards Air Force Base, Mojave, Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, Lake Isabella, and Frazier Park.
Winds are expected to be the strongest between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., the NWS says.
Highway 58 through and below Tehachapi Pass will be impacted, along with Highway 178 through Walker Pass.
Blowing dust and sand will cause lower visibilities in the high deserts.
