A Kern County Fire Dept. helicopter is making practice runs in the Tehachapi area on Saturday morning, Feb. 22, according to freelance photographer Nick Smirnoff.
Smirnoff said that earlier a full complement of fire personnel responded earlier in the day to what turned out to be a legal controlled burn in the vicinity of Arosa and Banducci near the Cumings Valley.
Smoke from that controlled fire and the presence of a helicopter may lead people to be concerned, Smirnoff said.
Residents are reminded that extreme drought conditions make conditions ripe for wildfire and are advised to get clearances around structures done and to be careful with power equipment.
