Old Town Business Association meeting Feb. 5

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, the first meeting of the Old Town Business Association will be held at Carden School.

Old Town business owners are being asked to join the effort to revitalize this area of Tehachapi.

“The Old Town Business Association is currently being put together,” Art Schaefer, owner of Ranch Service and Supply, said.

The grant program, Renewable Energy Neighborhood Enhancement Wind Business Zone (RENEWBIZ) helps organizations with funding for the development and/or improvement of unincorporated communities in Eastern Kern County. This is a program that has already helped Mojave and Rosamond.

Wednesday's meeting is designed to give everyone information and build an organization so that the business owners in Old Town can band together for the application process and combine their efforts to revitalize the area.

“The meeting is open to all business owners in Old Town,” Schaefer said. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at Carden School, 20419 Brian Way.
