A 21-year-old male was found dead Thursday morning alongside a dirt road at Loop Ranch — about a quarter mile southeast of the intersection Highway 58 and Broome Road — according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

According to Sgt. Avery Simpson with the KCSO, the body of Ricky Perez, a resident of Arvin, displayed “obvious signs of trauma.”

Perez's body was discovered by a ranch employee around 8:06 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, Simpson said.

A homicide investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause and manner of the death, according to a news release issued by the KCSO.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
