Firefighters from Stallion Springs, Tehachapi and Keene as well as Bear Valley Springs Station 16 responded to a 911 call at 26900 Skyline Drive in Bear Valley Springs on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2:19 a.m., for a reported chimney fire. There were no injuries. While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, damages are estimated at $20,000.
Joaquin Balassa, 28, of Tehachapi has been arrested on charges of murder after Tehachapi Police Department officers found two men dead in his apartment in the 600 block of Cherry Lane early Monday morning.
