Tehachapi threw open the doors to its new police station on June 27, celebrating it with a ribbon cutting and the swearing in of the new police chief, Kent Kroeger.
Tehachapi's city council, county leaders and representatives from Assemblywoman Shannon Grove's and state Sen. Jean Fuller's office were on hand, providing praise for the new facility and for the Tehachapi Police Department.
The new facility is much larger than the previous one on East "F" Street. It includes larger office and personnel space, three holding cells for suspects, an emergency operations center/community room and the capability to host a dispatch center for the police department.
A second open house is available for residents wanting a tour on June 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at 220 West "C" Street.
