Council approves veteran's memorial for downtown

The city of Tehachapi is one step closer to having a dedicated downtown memorial to honor veterans.
Last week the city council approved for staff to complete the design of the $183,000 Tehachapi Freedom Plaza to be located at the corner of Tehachapi Boulevard and Curry Street.
The plaza, which will celebrate the five main branches of the United States Military, will also double as a parking lot with approximately 20 parking spaces and a possible home for the Tehachapi Tourism Commission.
The project will be partially funded by the county's Community Development Block Grant, as well as local companies who have expressed an interest in helping to pay for the project. courtesy of the City of Tehachapi
