Wind industry veteran Kirk Roland joins WWS

World Wind and Solar, headquartered in Tehachapi, has announced that wind industry veteran Kirk Roland has joined the firm as director of service operations.

World Wind and Solar, headquartered in Tehachapi, has announced that wind industry veteran Kirk Roland has joined the firm as director of service operations.

Roland has more than 25 years of experience in wind energy production and has been involved in all aspects of the industry, from wind farm development and installation to customer service as a turbine manufacturer's representative and from electrical infrastructure construction to turbine maintenance.

"Kirk is a true wind energy professional who understands what the industry needs and knows how we can provide our customers with the best possible service," said WWS CEO Buddy Cummings. "He is an industry insider and an acknowledged expert who offers a thorough, clear-eyed focus on making wind projects work, and work well. We're always glad to have someone of his caliber in our company, and we welcome Kirk to WWS."

Roland started in wind energy as a mechanic and turbine technician in the San Gorgonio Pass area in 1986 when the industry was in its infancy, working for Zond Systems Inc. servicing 415 Vestas V15 turbines. He has also worked for JMS, was once West Coast operations manager for turbine manufacturer Nordex USA, and most recently spent four years with Frontier Pro Services selling and managing a wide range of turbine services.

A California native, his family has three generations in wind energy.
