The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Tehachapi area, along with other Kern County mountain areas, the Southeastern Kern County desert and the Indian Wells Valley.
The advisory runs through Saturday. Possible impacts include cloud to ground lightning, gusty winds with blowing dust at lower elevations, small hail and brief heavy rain.
Possible flash flooding near fire burn scar areas and in the desert near Ridgecrest are in the forecast.
The NWS reported a 30 percent chance of thunderstorm activity in the Tehachapi area Monday, lowering to 20 percent on Tuesday.
The clouds will also lower temperatures. A high of 92 is predicted for the Tehachapi Valley Monday, lowering to 88 Tuesday and the mid-80s for the remainder of the week. Low temperatures are expected to be in the mid to low 60s.
