A probation search on July 24 resulted in Kern County Sheriff deputies arresting two people and procuring a variety of controlled substances and illegal drug products.
According to a KCSO press release, deputies conducted a probation search for 54-year-old Patrick Ballard on Brentwood Drive in Tehachapi at 6:45 p.m.
During the search of Ballard's home, deputies located almost one ounce of methamphetamine and 59 Xanax tablet pills, which were presumed to be with intent to sell. Deputies also located morphine tables, marijuana, along with glass smoking pipes and syringes.
Ballard was arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield for possession of narcotics for sale, possession of controlled substance with intent to sale, possession of a controlled substance and of narcotics, and possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. His bail has been set at $60,385 and is due in the Mojave branch of Kern County Superior Court on July 28.
Also arrested in the probation search was Tehachapi resident Carolyn Newton, 47, for being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was booked into Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield with a bail set at $5,000 and a court date of July 28 at 9 a.m. in Mojave.
