On May 20, 2014, an operation hosted by the Tehachapi Police Department was conducted in the Tehachapi area. With the assistance of the Taft Police Department and Kern County Probation Officers a total of eight arrests were made. Of those arrests five were for being under the influence of meth, one possession of meth, and two for warrants.
A total of eight parole searches and 21 Assembly Bill 109-related contacts were made. AB 109 is the Prison Realignment Act signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown in 2011.
The law sent low-level prison inmates who were considered non-violent, non-sexual, and non-serious back to counties for supervision in order to comply with a federal mandate to reduce state prison population.
All suspects arrested in the May 20 operation were booked into the Kern County Jail.
