Tehachapi residents and visitors showed their respect for the military's fallen by attending this year's Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Day Ceremony.

An estimated 200 to 300 civilians and veterans from several military conflicts watched the parade and then continued showing their respect by attending the Memorial Day Ceremony at Tehachapi Central Park.

“This is a very poignant ceremony this year, as it marks the 75th anniversary of the Normandy Landing in Europe. 10,000 Allied causalities and 4,000 confirmed deaths were the results of this landing. We are free today because of their sacrifices and those of our fallen veterans everywhere across the world,” said local clergyman and resident Father Wes Clare, chaplain for the USAF and California National Guard.
