A man was arrested in Arizona on suspicion of killing his 75-year-old mother in Tehachapi, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said Thursday night.

Deputies were called to the home of Barbara Jensen Teague in the 19900 block of Luana Drive, and found her dead at 1:47 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, according to a coroner's office news release.

"It had been reported by the Mohave County Sheriff's Office in Arizona that 50-year-old Matthew Jensen had killed his mother," the Kern County Sheriff's news release said.

It was not immediately clear from the news release how the Mohave County Sheriff's Office became aware of that report.

The Kern Sheriff's Office said Teague was found dead in the residence "suffering from multiple stab wounds." The coroner's news release said she died Monday, Oct. 23.

An arrest warrant was issued in California and Jensen was arrested in Arizona, deputies reported. The KCSO news release went on to say Jensen was taken to a hospital for unspecified medical care and would be booked into an Arizona jail pending extradition to California.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office asked that anyone with information call 861-3110.

The coroner's news release said an autopsy would be done.
