The Stallion Springs Community Church welcomed their new pastor, Rick Dorr, at a special service on Sunday, Nov. 12. Founder and Pastor Emeritus John Gollnick installed Pastor Rick and the congregation welcomed him and his wife, Sandy, at a potluck following the morning service.
Dorr was born in Tulare and raised in Delano, where he graduated from high school. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged at Grand Forks AFB, N.D. Following his discharge, Dorr went to work at Northwest Bible College in Minot, N.D. and while still serving on the staff of the college, became the Senior Pastor of the Velva, North Dakota Church.
Pastor Rick's 28 year ministerial career eventually led him to Shafter, where he was pastor of Shafter Christian Fellowship Church and was instrumental in turning the Shafter Theatre into a beautiful worship facility. In January 2003, Dorr accepted the presidency of the Allegre Corporation in Las Vegas, Nev., but later resigned to return to full-time ministry, his first love and calling.
During Dorr's career, he has been the lead evangelist on missionary crusades to the Philippines and worked on numerous mission projects in Mexico. In 1980, he was named one of the "Outstanding Young Men of America" and highlighted in the book The Top Outstanding Men of America, (1980 edition).
Besides his preaching talents, Dorr is a singer, musician and songwriter. He has written several Bible studies which include Browsing Through the Bible (a complete study of the Bible including audio tapes), Understanding the Secret Kingdom of God and Creating a Dynamic Marriage.
Dorr and his wife, Sandy, have four children and two grandchildren.
Dorr has already become involved in the Stallion Springs community and will be the Santa at this year's Stallion Springs POA Christmas caroling event to be held on Dec. 13 and 14.
