The Tehachapi Mountain Quilters will meet Monday, March 3 at 9:30 a.m. at the Bear Valley Community Church, for their regular meeting.

Linda Anderson, of Ridgecrest, will present a trunk show and talk about Color Theory. The following Tuesday she will lead a workshop on Big Stitch. She is very accomplished and has won awards for her Big Stitch quilts, including Judge's Choice at Road to California for her first Big Stitch quilt.

What, are you asking is the Big Stitch? It is a variation of the quilting stitch, which goes fast and is more visible than regular quilting. It is definitely an acquired skill.  The stitches not only have to be big, but they are supposed to be done evenly. Fortunately, according to Linda, they come out looking more even than they really are.

If you wish to take this workshop call Barbara Dieges, 821-5389 to sign up, or to attend the Monday meeting, for a gate pass.

The TMQ February meeting which was delayed by snow, took place on February 11, with a great attendance to hear Barbara Dieges give her dramatic presentation of “A Thread Runs Through It”.

Officers for the March 2008 - February 2009 guild year were elected. With a large carry over from last year, it promises to be a great year for the Tehachapi Mountain Quilters.

Volunteer committee chairpersons will be announced at the next meeting.
