Depot fire still under investigation

The investigation into the depot fire is still under investigation according to Tehachapi Police Chief Jeff Kermode.
“I called the deputy district attorney   at the Mojave court and they do have the case in their office. The case is still under review.” He continued, “ Because of the technical nature of an arson case and the presentation of an arson case, they don’t want to sacrifice the quality of the filing for the sake of speed. As soon as their charged we’ll release the names.”
Kermode also noted that, “In light of the depot fire and the dry conditions that exist, the Kern County Fire Department and the Tehachapi Police Department will be actively patrolling for fireworks violations and will be taking a zero tolerance approach over the 4th.”
